Torn Between 2 Lovers

Hello Friends, Remember the words to the song Torn Between 2 Lovers?  The chorus goes on to say, “Feeling like a fool, loving both of you is breaking all the rules.” Well, have you ever found yourself in this state? Or, maybe you are in this state right now? My friends, at some point in our relationship with God, we WILL find ourselves challenged to choose between God and a thing, or even a person. When your heart is sincere toward God and you want to live a life that is pleasing to Him above all else, there are personal sacrifices that you are going to have to make. Remember that God Himself had to make a sacrifice for you to demonstrate His love for you. That is summed up in  John 3:16. Christ also made a sacrifice for us, in that while we were yet sinners He died for us, and that is confirmed in Romans 5:8

If we say that we Love God friends, then the same will be expected of us. For example; when you get married and become a husband or wife, husbandly and wifely duties are now expected of you. Your desire and your time are now vested in your marriage to ensure that it will be successful. If you were to continue dating other people as a married person, then, you would be dabbling with adultery. Is that any way to have a successful marriage? I beg to differ. You now have a spouse to faithfully commit to and would expect that he or she would do what is right within the marriage. This is what responsible living is all about. In parallel, however, now that you are a child of God, you must handle your relationship with Him responsibly. Before coming to Christ, you may have lived a life doing whatever you pleased, but now that you GAVE your life to Him you are no longer your own.

You have been bought with a price. The precious blood of Christ God’s Son has paid the price to set you free from sin and death. Therefore, you must now glorify God in your body and with your life (ref 1 Corinthians 6:20).  Why? Because your love for God should compel you to put Him first. Friends, because of our sinful nature, we tend to sometimes hold on to some sinful habits that do not please God, nor do these habits benefit us in any spiritual way, or even temporal way.  We can sometimes take part in what we may call subtle sin, but nonetheless, it is still sin. Sometimes we may hang around people who do not benefit our spiritual life in any way. They influence you more than you influence them if at all.  Friends, be careful of the habits you choose to indulge in and the people you choose to befriend that do not enhance your walk with the Lord. If we are His followers, then we MUST put the things of  Him first.

God loves you best and has given you principles to live by. He will NEVER lead you wrong. Satan would love nothing more than to put you in a position spiritually so that you can fall short and then use it to draw you away from God. Show satan where your loyalty lies. In Christ and what He, Christ has done for you.

PEACE AND LOVE!
