Intentional Love

Love, the most powerful source that exist. Let’s talk about. What is love exactly? How do we get love? How do we give Love? What does love do? Well, first of all let’s define what love is. WHAT IS LOVE? The source of the definition of love is defined in the Bible, the word of God, the book of unadulterated truth. 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 defines that love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices in the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perserves. Love never fails. WOW! What a powerful definition, from the source of love Himself (God). As we ponder these defining words, we can now pull out the measuring stick of love, and examine ourĀ  own character to see whether or not we are defining love in our life living. This same chapter of Corinthians also explains to us that it does not matter what language you speak, how many good things you have done in your life, or even if you give your body to hardship; if you do not posses this love defined in the Bible, then you have NOTHING and you gain NOTHING. This love is not at all mediocre. It calls for much sacrifice and humility. It calls for total discipline in the way we act and in the way we speak in dealing with others. Nothing about love is selfish. When we confess that Jesus is Lord and His Holy Spirit comes to live in us, He sheds this kind of love in us. Romans 5:5 says, “And hope does not put to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us. Only the Spirit of God can make it possible to love in the way that God wants and expects us to love each other, ourselves and Him. You cannot do it if you are not interested in first loving God. This is how He transfers this love to us. We must acknowledge that He is the source of it. For God so loved the world that he gave His only begotten Son, we know this scripture well. As we recognize God’s love for us we can accept His greatest gift of love, who is His Son, Jesus Christ. When we receive Christ, He baptizes us with His Spirit and now it is the Holy Spirits’ job to teach us how to love and be successful in loving. I encourage you to take some time today, while you still have God’s breath in your body, to examine yourself and see exactly where you are when it comes to love. Know that God loves you with and everlasting love, and when He looks at you, He sees you through his love for you. He only wants that you know this and that you see others in the same way. Love your neighbor as you love YOURSELF. Love works no ill to his neighbor. Love covers a multitude of sin. So if we do nothing else, let’s make the love of God a priority in our lives. It is not easy, but remember you have the help of the Holy Spirit in you. Take the love stanz. Be intentional about loving. LOVE INTENTIONALLY!!!
