Work Your Reward

Behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be. Revelations 22:11.

Hello friends, and a happy day to you. As I awoke this day, I woke up with the words of this scripture speaking to me. “Behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.” These are the words of Jesus, given to us in the book of revelation. Here, Jesus is reminding us that He is coming back, and when He comes back, He is coming with a reward. He is going to reward every single human being according to the works/things we have done throughout our lives up to His return.

Remember, your life is valuable to God. He placed you here in the earth to fulfill the plan and purpose that He gave to you when He knitted you together in your mother’s womb, Psalm 139:13. He has given you gifts and talents to sustain you, and also for you to express and reveal who He is (He is Love) through your life living and experiences. Remember, as believers in Jesus Christ, we live for Him and not ourselves. As believers in Christ, we choose to work for God in essence, so that those who do not serve Him will have the same opportunity that you have to see and know God’s goodness and love. We are Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making His appeal through us, 2 Corinthians 5:20.

God is sovereign, and just like any responsible and loving Lord, Master, Employer; God keeps record of  the works that we do. He is all seeing and He is all knowing.  He knows the kind of works that you have been doing. The record is kept so that a just reward will be given to you. The scripture says that, “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, neither have it entered the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love Him.” 1 Corinthians 2:9. Think on that promies, and know that the God, who is faithful to every promise says this is what you will receive when you love God.

Friends, when you love God, you want to do what He says. When you love God, you will be obedient in doing the work He has called you to do. When you love God you will live the life He has predestined for you to live. In John 15:24, Jesus says, “If you love me, keep my commands.” That’s clear speaking. God is not fooled by pretentious works. He knows your heart, and says He will give all people their due rewards, according to what their actions deserve, Jeremiah 17:10. Please Note; Your works are not for you to boast about, your works are an act of your love for God.

Allow these words to speak encouragement to you today. Jesus is reminding us that He is coming back to reward us for our works (the way we live).  Be reminded also, that when He comes it will be quickly, suddenly, with no immediate warning. You will not have time anymore to do anything to make up for what you have not done in the time given to you. He already told you to be ready. God knows that because we are human, sometimes we need a nudge, so He sends us friendly reminders to keep us on track. We must live intentionally for God.

We must love intentionally. Do not waste your days. Nothing else is more vital in this life than to live a life that is pleasing to your creator. ONLY what you do for Christ will last.  ONLY what you do for God when tried in the fire will remain. We serve an eternal God who glories in eternal things. Examine your works today while you have the opportunity to do so. Make sure that your works are in right standing with God, so that you can receive His unimaginable promises He has in store for you.
