1Corinthians 6: 19, “Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own.” The Spirit of God Who comes to live in you, when you receive Jesus Christ as your Saviour, is God putting His seal in you to distinguish you as His very own. You NO LONGER belong to yourself, but to Jesus Christ. You No longer live to please yourself, but to please the one who has paid the price of sin for you (He bought you with his own Blood Acts 20:28). The Holy Spirit makes your body a place of holiness. God by His Spirit is now LIVING in you.
Now that you are aware of this; you must begin to submit your mind and body to Him. You are a new creature/person in Him. In Him you live, move, and have your very being. He now ought to control EVERYTHING you say and do. The Holy Spirit works on the inside of you to kill the sinful works of your flesh and give you the thinking that is of Christ. My friends, you cannot please God in the Flesh, you must by His Spirit, submit your body as a sacrifice which lets you know that you are giving every part of yourself to God. You are spirit, body and soul and God already knows your heart and motives. Therefore, the things you use to do with your body before He came to reside in you must now be evaluated and whatever is of sin must now be done away with. These things are called the works of the flesh. What are the works of the flesh? Galatians 5: 19 states, “The works of the flesh are: sexual imorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dessensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like.” (Now examine every work). The scripture goes on to say that, “those who live like this will not inherit the Kingdom of God.” Friends…… can God be any more clear in what He does not want His children to be partaking in??
Today, let us be reminded that our bodies are indeed a holy place. It is the Temple: a place of worship, of God. Therefore we must glorify God in our bodies. We do not get to do as we please and in the same breath say we belong to God. Which ever work of the flesh we are indulging in will work against our goal to see the face of God and live in His kingdom forever. Indulging in these works can also cause us not receive many blessing the Father has instore for us simply because we are disobedient in these sins. We bring consequences on ourselves and open doors to allow satan to keep us bound when we have already been set free. The Father only wants to bless us, however He searches the heart and examines the mind, to reward each person according to their conduct, according to what their deeds deserve, according to Jeremiah 17:10. So, allow the Holy Spirit to work in you, by totally submitting your flesh to Him. He is in you to help you because you cannot do it on your own. Your part is that you must simply want His help, but want it disperately. When you see yourself as God see you, His temple, you will begin to lose the desire to do the things that you KNOW are not pleasing to Him. I encourage you, as I encourage myself, to do the things that will bring your soul eternal goodness and freedom, and turn away from the things that are short lived and that will only bring to you eternal damnation, and cause you your very soul.
Your body Is a temple.
