Hello friends! Yesterday I got to thinking on how God called Abraham His friend, Isaiah 41:18, and Jesus called His disciples friends, John 15:14. These thoughts brought on the feeling of how God is not just a Father, or someone telling you what to do, or how to live, or how much you should be affraid of Him. I became overwhelmed by the feeling of how much God wants to be our friend. As I assessed these thoughts in my mind I began to think on who a friend really is. I began to think on relationships with people I consider to be, or would call my friend.
Who is a friend, or what is the meaning of the word friend? The dictionary defines a friend as: someone you like and know well, or : a person with whom one has mutual affection. Do you have someone like this in your life? Someone you share mutual affection with. Someone you can call on no matter what. Someone you can be completely honest with. Someone who knows all the truth about you, good and bad, and still loves you. Someone who will stand up for you, or has your back. Someone who can correct you and let you know what you are doing wrong. Someone who will push you to do better and support you in the moments of life changing situations. Someone who truly celebrates you and will never turn their back on you.
Well, even if you don’t have this kind of person in your life in a physical sense, know that God wants to be this type of person to you. Take it personal. Know that He wants to build a friendship with you that is real. He wants you to see Him as someone you can trust. Someone who is right there for you for whatever you may need Him for. He has your back. He wants to tell you things. He wants to guide you through the practical things in your life. He wants to see you prosper in every way. He even wants to make you laugh, know when to relax, and have fun in you life.
God is not just a Father, He is also a friend. If you haven’t realized it before, begin to see it now. It’s a mind shifting experience that will take a load of self conciousness off of you. Sometimes we can be so hard on ourselves, and be fearful of God in negative ways that He doesn’t even want us to be thinking of. So relax and talk to your friend. Speak to Him as He is present, like someone you can see physically in the front of you. He loves you and wants you to build this kind of relationship with Him. He will be the best friend you would ever have. He will never leave you, nor forsake you. He is a faithful friend. Be a friend to Him. It’s a relationship, not a religious union.
Peace and Love!
