A Servant’s Heart

Hello Friends, When God calls you into His service,  one of the first things that you must know and learn is that IT IS NOT ABOUT YOU. Jesus said, as recorded in the gospel of John, that he came to do his father’s will.  “For I came down from heaven not to do my will but the will of him who sent me.” John 6:38 NIV.

You see friends, God has devised a plan to save the entire human race. To reconcile us back to Himself.  He sent His only begotten son into the world, so that the world through him may be saved. John 3:17 NIV.  When we accept Jesus Christ as our savior, God invites us to partner with Him in His plan to set humanity free from sin. This takes work, and therefore God needs people who are willing to labor with Him to get this work done.  Remember, God loves His creation with an everlasting love, and He Himself is willing to do what it takes to show us just how much He loves us.

When you partner with God, you agree to do things His way, and this is not according to your feelings, nor your emotions. All that is necessary is your commitment to the call. This call, however, does not come without opposition. As a matter of fact, you will begin to see just how many people can be against God in so many ways, even among people who claim to know Him so dearly.  and we see from scripture the pushback Jesus encountered as He did the will of His Father. It was mainly the religious sector that tried to block salvation from taking place. Jesus was secure in His calling and went all the way to the cross, carried it, was nailed to it, gave up the ghost, was resurrected, gave gifts to man, and passed the baton on to ANYONE who is willing to further carry out God’s plan for this race.

Serving God is serving others and neither is easy to do, but as you venture into the things He has placed in your heart, He gives you a disposition of joy and peace, so that even though you may get discouraged, that peace and joy He gives surpasses all ill feelings. He strengthens your heart. There is no secret agenda in doing the will of God. You must put ALL selfish motives, selfish desires, and self-will aside as you take on a servant’s heart. Remember, IT IS NOT ABOUT YOU, but you are included in the rewards. God will certainly humble you to the point where you will recognize that His plan is much bigger than yourself.

A servant’s heart will always put his Lord’s need over his own.  Love puts others first.
