Kowledge, Wisdom and Understanding

Keys to a successful life

Hello friends. If you read your bible, go to church, or engage in biblical talks, you may have heard of these three principles; knowledge, wisdom, and understanding. King Solomon, who was also the son of King David and his successor was known to be the wisest man who lived and also the richest. However, Solomon was but a child when he became king, but he was very grateful for God’s mercy toward his father David. One night in Solomon’s dream, God appeared to him and asked,  “What shall I give thee?” This young king could have asked for anything, but he was no fool and he had a good heart. I believe many of us if given that request may have asked for material gain or great power, but Solomon sincerely wanted to be able to govern God’s people well. Therefore, he asked God for an understanding heart so that he would be able to judge between good and evil. This pleased the Lord that he would ask for this thing and God gave him wisdom and far more. Solomon would also have great knowledge and riches that no one had before him nor would anyone have after him. This is recorded in 1 Kings 3:9-13.

What can this wise young king teach us today by requesting something so seemingly insignificant, or immaterial?  You see friends when you genuinely want to do what is right in your service to God and others, there is nothing God will withhold from you. Though we are imperfect beings (and Solomon was not perfect either) God knows the motives of our hearts. His word says that no good thing will He withhold from those who walk upright. It does not matter what your status is, what matters is that you have a heart that wants to do good in the sight of God and towards others. This is the foundation of true success in the eyes of God. As you follow God’s will, your own human will, will transform and be obedient to God’s will. When the understanding of this knowledge is unveiled to you, you will find that you have nothing to lose except selfishness. You will begin to gain all you need to prosper in every capacity, just like Solomon.

Your love for God added to His love for you will produce a plethora of blessings you will not have room enough to receive. As you can apply God’s word to your every action (think it, believe it, speak it, live it) you can watch it work for you. Yes, His word will never return void, it will produce fruit for you and those around you. Applying these three principles of knowledge, wisdom, and understanding with a position of humility will cause you to overcome any adversity, or conflict you face. These three things when applied to your life will keep you fresh, innovative, mentally sharp, and financially stable. To be successful does not only require hard work if any at all. Many people work very hard and have very little to show for it. But if we want true success, long term, without sorrow then we must be intentional with applying understanding, wisdom, and knowledge. Just imagine all your needs are met and you have answers to problems that can frustrate you and send you spiraling. Then imagine you being able to help others, giving them sound advice, and being able to help someone financially. This is true successful living.

Here are a few tips of wisdom;

  1. Give and it will be given to you.
  2. Love your neighbor as you love yourself.
  3. Honor God with your substance.
  4. Be slow to speak and slow to anger.
  5. Owe no man nothing but to love them.
  6. Do unto others as you would have them do to you.
  7. These are all in the Bible. It is a way of life, so live well.

If any man lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not, and it shall be given him.

Peace and Love
