Take it Easy

Matthew 28-30 KJV, 28 “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; and ye shall find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

Friends, we tend to take on a lot of things that can become very burdensome in our lives. We can have jobs that are very demanding, take on tasks that can become tedious and overwhelming, have to deal with people who are just overbearing, and even have to endure family situations that can weigh us down. How do we find rest in such situations? How do we lighten the load and be able to live life with some degree of ease? What do we have to do so that we can enjoy our lives with less frustration?

I think on the words of Jesus recorded in Matthew 11:28-30. He is encouraging us to come to Him when the pressures of life are weighing us down. He has the promise of rest and wants us to realize that he can help us with whatever we may be going through. He suggests that we look to Him to ease the heaviness we carry. God will not put more on us than we can bear, but sometimes we can take on things that are beyond our capacity. Things God did not intend for us to carry. Things that can bring consequences to our lives and we do not know how to handle them.

Whether we are dealing with the consequences of sin or just the demands of life, Christ has a remedy to ease the burdens so that we can be at peace. It is hard to function when all you can think about are the heavy burdens you are carrying. Christ came so that we may have and enjoy life to the full, John 10:10, but when we fail to give Him our burdens and cast all our cares on Him, we end up living a life short of enjoyment.

Friends, let’s take on Christ’s invitation to an easier life. While we will always have to take on life’s challenges, we do not have to take them on alone. Let’s follow Jesus’ teachings. Let’s apply His wisdom when dealing with everything in life, both practical and spiritual. Don’t wait for things to become overwhelming. Seek His direction before you take on anything you do. He will teach you how to weigh things out, weigh people out, and weigh tasks out according to what will bring results of an abundant life for you. Sin does not lead to an abundant life. Sin does not ease life’s burdens. Sin only allows satan to kill steal and destroy your life. So look to Christ who is the only one who can TRULY give you wisdom, peace, and strength in the world.

Trusting in Christ’s words and invitation will not weigh you down, it will only bring you to ease and rest.

Peace and Love!
